Kalyana Shira Foundation

Kalyana Shira Foundation was established in September 2006 and is dedicated to reviving the Indonesian film industry since the rebirth of Indonesian film in 2000.

The foundation especially aims to raise awareness for women issues and many other topics that have been marginalized in the current lndonesian film industry. Nia Dinata as the founder and chairperson of the foundation is a prominent woman filmmaker who touches women and marginal issues in her films which have won several awards in festivals in Asia and abroad.

In the stagnancy of film law in lndonesia nowadays, it is almost impossible to be able to produce and to screen films with “sensitive” and marginal issues. Kalyana Shira Foundation activities focus on these and include the annual KidsfFest (International Children Film Festival), Documentary Film Workshops and Master Classes.
